Alchi Monastery Complex:
Alchi is home to one of the oldest and most artistically significant monasteries in Ladakh, comprising multiple temple structures including the Dukhang (Assembly Hall), Sumtsek Temple, and Manjushri Temple.
The Sumtsek Temple stands out with its towering statues of Avalokiteshvara, Maitreya, and Manjushri, and exquisitely preserved murals that date back to the 11th–12th centuries. These frescoes portray Buddhist cosmology, tantric imagery, and everyday life, showcasing an artistic legacy rarely seen in the region.
