Kargyam is a remote and enchanting village located in the pristine valley of the Changthang Plateau in southeastern Ladakh. Distance from Leh: Approximately 230–250 km (8–10 hours by road, depending on road conditions).

Accessibility:

• By Road: Reached via a long, rugged journey through the Leh – Karu – Chang La – Durbuk – Tangtse – Chushul – Tsaga route.

• Road Conditions: Rough and challenging in several stretches; a high-clearance 4×4 vehicle is strongly recommended.

• Permits: Inner Line Permit (ILP) is mandatory for both Indian and foreign nationals due to proximity to sensitive border areas.

• Nearby Services: Limited facilities in the village itself; the nearest basic amenities and shops are in Chushul or Tangtse.
