Yarma Monastery is believed to have been established centuries ago as a retreat center and protector shrine. It holds immense importance in the local spiritual life, especially during times of misfortune or spiritual need. The monastery is devoted to the wrathful deity Gonbo (Mahakala), believed to guard the Dharma and dispel negative energies. Local lore says that the site was chosen due to the energy vortexes and spiritual strength of the surrounding cliffs. It has served as a meditation haven for high lamas and hermits over generations.
Architecture

- Retreat Cells:Small, stone-walled hermit cells used by monks and yogis for prolonged meditation
